My latest obsession is writing. Until I retired I had not written anything but technical papers for projects that I had worked on. I have found creative writing to be one of the most satisfying things that I have ever done. The license to create in fiction has no bounds. It may be as serious or as nutty as your mood at the time. There are many other appealing aspects for retirees. Writing can be done in any place, any time, any weather, any season, and any money. A good computer is the most expensive tool you must have and most of us would not be without a computer anyway. Few other endeavors provide the opportunity to fine tune your creation until you are completely satisfied with it. A golfer can slice a ball to hell and gone and he must play it where it lies. An artist can make a few bad strokes and he may have to start over. A singer screeches once and he/she is dead with no chance to recall the screech. A writer can revise a sentence, a paragraph, or a whole story until it meets his threshold of satisfaction, and the finished product won't show any scars.

For all the personal pleasure that I receive from writing, it would not be nearly as valuable to me if I simply put my creations on a closet shelve after writing them. I write to entertain readers and therefore I invite you to check out some of my short stories and my historical novel. NOTE: For as long as my short stories are displayed in this website they are free and may be printed for personal use if Bob Brown is displayed as the author. Permission must be obtained before the story is printed in any publication with circulation over 1000.
