PAINT
ROBOT
Bob
Brown
(And proud of it)
INTRODUCTION
The following
is a description of a smart robot that paints while you have coffee and donuts.
It may be a trifle expensive for the average household, but contractors and Lazy
Human Types (hereafter know as LHT) will love it.
SETUP
AND OPERATION
A camera is
mounted on a rolling dolly that contains a robot and a bucket of paint. The
camera will view the wall to be painted. LHT will see this view displayed on a
computer screen. Using a “Fill” computer command, LHT will shade just the
parts to be painted, leaving out windows, floors, ceilings, etc.. At this point
LHT will turn on the paint robot and go after coffee and donuts (he must have
incredible faith (or something) that the
robot will behave as it should). The robot’s telescoping arm has a pressure
fed brush mounted on its extreme end. The arm will be long enough to reach from
floor to ceiling. The camera and computer will command the robot to paint
everything displayed as “Fill” on the computer. It will monitor where the
brush is at all times and not brush the same area twice. This shrewd feature
saves scads of paint, not to mention unsightly streaks of excess paint running
down the wall. If the robot accidentally paints something it shouldn’t, like a
window for example, the robot will yell, “Ut-oh!” LHT can turn this annoying
sound off if it happens too often. The robot can also tell when the paint is
running low and yell for LHT to leave his coffee long enough to pour more paint
in the paint bucket. When finished painting, the robot will stop and yell,
“I’m through.” Of course there is always room for improvement and the next
model will feature a coffee maker, donut warmer, and a country music player.
